Background of the study
In Kaltungo Local Government Area, vocational education is increasingly being recognized as a vital instrument for fostering entrepreneurship among students. The region has witnessed a growing need for innovative business solutions and self-employment opportunities as traditional job markets face saturation. Vocational education provides students with hands-on training that is essential for entrepreneurial success, equipping them with skills ranging from technical expertise to financial literacy (Olaitan, 2023). In recent years, curricula have been reformed to include entrepreneurial modules that emphasize practical skills such as business planning, market analysis, and innovation management. These courses are designed to empower students by nurturing a mindset that values initiative, creativity, and resilience. Partnerships with local business leaders and government agencies have played a significant role in shaping these initiatives, ensuring that the training is aligned with market realities. The approach combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, such as project-based learning, mentorship programs, and real-world business simulations (Eze, 2024). As a result, vocational education in Kaltungo is not only producing graduates who are technically proficient but also well-equipped to start and manage their own businesses. This strategic educational reform has the potential to stimulate local economies, reduce unemployment, and create a sustainable ecosystem of entrepreneurship. The hands-on experiences provided through vocational training encourage students to think innovatively and develop unique solutions to local challenges. The emphasis on entrepreneurship is seen as a pathway to economic independence and community development, which is crucial in a rapidly evolving global economy. By fostering entrepreneurial skills early, vocational education contributes to a future workforce that is adaptable, creative, and capable of driving economic transformation (Adewumi, 2024).

Statement of the problem
Kaltungo faces persistent challenges in cultivating a culture of entrepreneurship among its students through vocational education. One primary concern is the limited availability of entrepreneurial training within the current vocational framework. Many programs focus predominantly on technical skills, with little emphasis on business management or financial literacy (Bamidele, 2023). This creates a scenario where students, though skilled in their trades, are not adequately prepared to venture into business or self-employment. Inadequate funding, outdated teaching methodologies, and a lack of industry-specific mentorship further exacerbate the problem. The disconnect between the skills taught and the demands of modern entrepreneurial ventures is evident, as many graduates struggle to launch sustainable businesses. Additionally, the traditional educational mindset prevalent in the region does not sufficiently encourage risk-taking or innovative business practices. The absence of structured entrepreneurial support systems, such as incubators or start-up accelerators, further limits the practical application of vocational training in business contexts. Consequently, while vocational education has the potential to transform the local economy through entrepreneurship, several systemic issues hinder its effectiveness. This study aims to critically examine these challenges and identify strategies to better integrate entrepreneurial training into vocational programs. Addressing these problems is essential for fostering a dynamic entrepreneurial environment that can drive economic growth and reduce dependency on conventional employment (Fashola, 2024).
